Academic Publishing

The project stems from early work on the quality of research in Management Studies, and is particularly concerned with mounting pressure to publish in the top journals of the subject. So great are the rewards for this achievement that gaming results, distorting the purpose of academic publishing to the extent that journal papers are more valued as indicators of academic performance than as its product. Research (with Jacqueline Kam) is now into citation and its analysis, particularly into the citation of top authors publishing in the top journals of Management Studies. Here, too, we find much gaming. Publications available.
