The Information Contract between Client and Management Consultant

This ESRC-funded project considers the relationship between management consultants and their clients in terms of the information transaction between them. The difficulties in effecting the transaction between consultant and client lead to a collusion between them that does not necessarily benefit the organisation paying them both. It may also increase the manager’s uncertainty and dependency, and thereby decrease the manager’s ability to manage unaided. The project has recently been extended to consider the impact of the use of management consultants on creativity in the BBC.
